Libraries to U: Eligibility and Fees

Make a Request

Libraries to U staff will check out books or photocopy articles from the U of MN Libraries collections. (Working with the Wilson Library Interlibrary Loan staff, we will also route materials coming into the Wilson ILL office).

Who can use Libraries to U?
Because of our limited resources, services vary depending upon patron status:

Faculty and staff at the U of M articles, on campus delivery of books and off campus delivery of books
Retired Faculty and Staff with a valid University of Minnesota ID Card (U Card) articles, on campus delivery of books and off campus delivery of books
Students with disabilities at the U of MN articles, on campus delivery of books and off campus delivery of books
Students at the U of MN articles, off campus delivery of books

Fees for services

Book delivery on campus is free. This service is limited to faculty and staff of the U of MN or students with disabilities.
Book delivery off campus:

UPS Ground delivery is now $4 plus $1 per item.

For Fed Ex delivery, patrons must contact us for a price quote.

Patron pays UPS or FedEx return shipping charges also.

Article delivery:
$5.00 per article (1-50 page article. Add $5.00 per addition 50 pp increments)
Microfilm or microfiche over 15 pages - Add .30/additional page

Turnaround time
Libraries to U typically processes requests within 1-2 business days. Campus mail delivery is an additional 1-3 days. For UPS or FedEd book delivery, see pricing above.

What is submitted with a request?
Please provide complete citations for all the materials you need. Also, provide your name, address, phone, status, CUFS number or payment method, and delivery preference. If you haven't already done so, search MNCAT, the online catalog, to verify library holdings before submitting a Libraries to U request.

Return or renew books checked out to you by Libraries to U
Please note due dates of library materials. To return books via Campus Mail, please return in white plastic envelope provided. Cross off your name and drop in the Campus Mail. Books must be received in the library before the due date. To renew a book, send an e-mail to renew@tc.umn.edu. To renew Interlibrary Loan material, send an e-mail to wilsill@tc.umn.edu

What if the material requested is unavailable?
Libraries to U will notify patrons when the material is not available. We will recall material checked out, and place a search on material not on the shelf for 3 days. A referral to Interlibrary Loan will be made when we do not own material at the U of MN Libraries. Patrons must initiate their own Interlibrary Loan requests.
