Recall Form

Library patrons can recall a book currently checked out to another patron. A recall will allow the current user to keep the book for approximately two weeks from the date it was checked out. Not all items are available for recall.

Who can use the service?
Anyone with a valid Borrowers Card with recall privileges. This includes Special Privilege cards and Friends of the Library cards. University of Minnesota Faculty, Staff, and Students may recall through MNCAT.

How soon can I get a book that's checked out?
Patrons can keep a book they have checked out for at least 2 weeks; after that time, a book is subject to recall. Items that have been recalled are due in approximately 10 days. Recall dates supersede all previous due dates.

When will I get a response?
When the book is returned, it will be placed on the Hold shelf for you at the Circulation desk of the Library that owns the title. You will be notified by email or U.S. mail, or you can inquire about the status of your request at the Circulation desk.

How do I pick up the book?
You can pick up the recalled book at the Circulation desk of the Library that owns the title. The book will be returned to the stacks if not picked up after 10 days.
